日本の信仰

すみません、私はちょっと英語を書きます。

Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure - pronounced coz-play) is a Japanese term short for "costume play." It is very popular and it is practised especially at anime convention. As we all know, Japan is famous for a lot of new inventions and beautiful things, thus creation of manga and anime. According to a survey of recent years, statistic shows that cosplay is a growing event in Japan. This costume parading event is the eye of all Japanese manga and anime fans. Every year, heart drop fans will dress themselves in costume as their favourite anime/manga characters. Like-minded people gather to see others' costumes, show off their own elaborate handmade creations, take lots of pictures, and possibly participate in best costume contests. Cosplay competitions held at conventions allow fans (known as 'cosplayers') dress up as their favourite characters, pose for pictures and win prizes.

All and all, this lead me to believe that Japanese love the 2D world they created and would rather choose to stay in it than face the reality world (or so they call 3D world). I have some pictures that shows some really cute Japanese girls thinking they were that special character. They tend to think and act to the extent that they live the life of that particular character. Is it a common thing in Japan nowadays? I’m really not sure. But it seems to be spreading all over the world. A belief and culture of Japanese now influence the world through manga and anime.

Why has most Japanese resort to loving the 2D world more than the 3D? I think it must be the beautiful character that was created. Not to mention, the 2D world is always so perfect compare to real life. For example, the guys and girls are always so handsome and beautiful with outstanding personality and characters, making it hard not love them. And in order to portray their undying love, Japanese created cosplay. People are given a chance to be their loving character for a day or 2, then it’s back to reality. However, some just can’t take their minds off this beautiful-made-up world.

  1. I like to the cosplay too. However, I have never tried participating in it. I think the cosplay might be a source for japanese who are stressed from work to release their pressure. Nowadays, cosplay is getting popular around the world.
